About The Oriental Insurance Company

The Oriental insurance company Ltd. was incorporated at Mumbai on 12th September 1947. The Oriental insurance was a wholly owned insurance subsidiary of The Oriental Government Security Life Assurance Company Ltd formed with an intention to carry out general insurance business in India. The company acted as a subsidiary for the Life Insurance Corporation of India from 1956 to 1973, after which year the general insurance business was nationalized in the country. The company was under the General Insurance Corporation of India after the nationalization and in 2003 all the shares of the company were transferred to the central government and is one of the three public limited insurance companies in India.

Individual Mediclaim insurance policy:

The individual mediclaim insurance policy from The Oriental insurance is available for a policy term of 1 year and covers the proposer of any age between 18 years to 65 years. The proposer can also cover his/her family under the same policy and avail a family discount of up to 10% if more than one person is covered under the policy. The minimum sum insured is Rs.1 Lakh and the maximum sum insured is Rs.50 Lakhs.


Benefits of The Oriental health insurance

The Oriental health insurance offers Individual Mediclaim policy & Family floater policy online. The policy can be purchased online by filling the details of the proposal form and paying the required premium under the policy. The premium would be calculated on the basis of the declaration given in the proposal form. Pre existing conditions if any would be referred to the underwriter and the policy should be taken from the office after certain medical tests. A discount of 5% would be given if the policy is purchased online from the portal.

Key features of ORIENTAL HDI health insurance


Policy Extension : The policy can be extended to cover the persons visiting SAARC countries i.e. South Asian Association for Regional cooperation countries which include Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka. The policy would be extended without any additional premium but the insured need to obtain written permission from the insurance company.
